How Many Stadiums In The US?

Lately, I've been keeping an eye on the search queries people use to find this site. I stumbled across one today that actually made me curious.

The search term was "how many stadiums in US". To let you know, we were on page 3 of google's results for that search.

It seems this guy dug around a little bit. I hope our new reader found the answer. And if he didn't, I did. There are 1813 stadiums in the U.S., according to this site. It was the first result when I searched "stadiums in the U.S."

Okay, so maybe I'm a little bit bored, but I learned something today. And that means I learned more on the internet during the weekend than I did this past week at my college classes. Sad, really.

UPDATE (3/27 10:20 PM): We just have to post this map, linked to in the comments section by its creator, Craig. There is something spectacular, and also kind of sad about the illustration of how few baseball diamonds there are in Manhattan. See for yourself:

The best was the one guy who found the site by looking for gay Hasidic sex or something like that.
That's crazy. Once I tried to use Google earth to count how many baseball fields there were in Brooklyn. I got up to around 200 and stopped because I think I accidentally counted some that were in Queens.
Apologies for linking to my own stuff here, but re. what BBD said above, I did the same thing with Manhattan, and made a map: http://www.flipflopflyin.com/sport/103diamonds.ht...
Wow that is fascinating stuff. I have always wanted to create a "foul ball tracker" at Yankee Stadium.
That would be fantastic. But one would imagine if the Yankees got hold of that information, they'd add $20 onto seats in areas where there were more foul balls!
Craig - hope you don't mind that I updated the original post with your work. Also, about the foul ball tracker, I think a website like Stubhub would commission that study and then THEY would benefit off of it. I think it is genius, but don't know how to initiate it.
Thank you. Glad you like it. You really would imagine that once that idea gets thrown around a bit, and the technology surely must be there to track it, that - you're right - StubHub would definitely be offering "hot zone" tickets. Re. the map, I did start looking at the other boroughs, like BBD. There are three on Roosevelt Island, and a couple on Governor's Island, too. Maybe it's time to complete what I started...
