The Destruction Of The Old Yankee Stadium Begins, Field First

Tom Kaminski of WCBS 880 captured the scene as the Yankees began the process of dismantling the ugly, blue cathedral yesterday. Bobby Abreu is shaking his head in bewilderment, wondering where that warning track was when he was fearing the right field wall at Yankee Stadium from 2006-2008.

Random thought: are the old seats losing resale value as they sit in the vacant stadium? There was clearly a market for a piece of sports memorabilia from the historic Yankee Stadium back in September when the city was abuzz about the final games there. Now that the new 1.3 billion dollar stadium is nearly complete, it wouldn't be surprising if people stepped back and realized that old, decrepit seats with bird crap on them probably aren't worth the hundreds of dollars that the City of New York is going to sell them for. We're just saying.
