Live Stream Of What We See At Citi Field Today

Right now, all you will see above is an old video that we took on Madison Avenue. In a few hours, we will be at Citi Field for the first event there when St. Johns takes on Georgetown. We plan on trying out our newest foray as 21st century digital boys - live streaming from Citi Field via the "Qik" application for our HTC Touch Pro.

For more about Qik.com, you can head over to the site. We really think this can serve a great purpose for a blog like Stadium Insider . Of course, the video will be choppy at first, but as wi-fi networks expand and mobile internet speeds increase, the quality will continue to improve. We don't expect great things from this right away, but it will be fun to be able to stream what we are checking out at the new ballparks while our readers are at home watching on the web. The latest video will always be the one featured on the video player above, but if you put your cursor over the video, you will be able to choose previous videos. Feel free to check them all out.

Please feel free to leave comments on what you see, and tell us of any technical errors that you experience.

Meanwhile, here is some interesting information, courtesy of the Mets' Spring Training Game Notes:
College Baseball at Citi Field: This afternoon, St. Johns University and Georgetown University will play the first-ever game at Citi Field, the new home of the Mets. Citi Field - has has a seating capacity of 42,000 - could end up setting the Division I College Baseball record for single-game attendance. The current mark of 40,106 was set on March 11, 2004 at PETCO Park when San Diego took on the University of Houston. That game was also the first contest played at San Diego's ballpark.
So, today's game at Citi Field may take on even more historical significance. Should be fun.

Hate to rain on your parade, but I doubt it's legal to stream live video feed from a major league game. I'm sure you could expect a cease-and-desist letter from MLB.com the first time you attempted this!
We have no plans to stream anything going on on the field. But you may be right, legaleagle. Thanks for the heads up.
Very cool! I love the live stream.

holy crap thats a terrible view man...
St John's Georgetown hardly constitutes a MLB game. Please keep streaming.
Dear Legal Eagle .... Major League Baseball has no legal rights to a college baseball game, even if it is played in a MLB ballpark. Technically the game itself belongs to the two universities playing the game, not MLB. If you were a "true" legal eagle you would know that . And it is being played in a MLB ball park, not a major league game. So before you make a post, get your facts, or maybe "words" right. Have a nice day.

And as for Stadium Insider ... great job with the last post !! That seat view is HORRIBLE !!

are you being sarcastic? thats an amazing view for an upper deck seat. and not only that but your saying that only 2 seats are effected? (only temporarily when people are walking at that) some people will complain about anything.....

Actually, that's a question I have for the Insider...is it the same crappy Shea ushers that either didn't care at all, or were better suited for the guard tower at Attica....or did they get a new crew?
Now that I say that, I hope the old guy is Loge sec. 17 is still working. Slip him $20 and you're king for the day.

It's a clear glass obstructing the view though, so you can still see through it. BTW what level of seats are those "obstructed view seats" on?

how can you see the live stream?
So now we are complaining about having to look through transparent plexiglass? Do people realize that the alternative is the metal bars we had in every view at Shea Stadium?
how can you see the live stream?
i can't get over people attacking you for "complaining" for posting about this valid and legitimate problem complete with video evidence (Ok the evidence might not technically be legal). Would they want to sit in this shitty seat? Unless you have a crush on the usherette, this is awful. No one who likes baseball wants to watch moronic casual fans traipse around directly in front of homeplate all day. The point is that this is a brand new, state of the art stadium to have a design flaw like this is an embarrassment, one that the Mets probably won't tell you about. So much for more "intimate"--I'd be curious to see how much this seat costs. This is a public service to consumers who have very little clout these days when it comes to sporting events, in my opinion.
For the record, I'd buy that seat for face value knowing about the "obstruction." It really just doesn't seem like it would bother me what-so-ever.
I agree that this is a very very very legit complaint. I for sure wouldn't want to sit in that seat all game long! In fact, thank you so much for bringing this to my attention - as I will now avoid buying any tickets in the first three rows of the promenade!

There are two problems here: the seats are too low relative to the landing, and the landing is way too large. Compare it to: http://assets.nydailynews.com/img/2008/09/21/amd_... You just know some lost tourist family is gonna stand in the corner of the oversized landing and look around hopelessly for their seats for 5 minutes. But, hey, as they keep telling us, that awful seat (and the 10 to its left, right, and in front of it) is still lower--and we all know how terrible it was to have an unobstructed view 5 feet higher up at Shea. It was lucky for us that the Wilpons came along to save us all.
Figures a yankee fan would complaine go to your stadium and stay there.

cle, he isn't complaining at all. Ross loves it there. Just showing things that are there. Hope you all enjoyed the stream today!
the stream was great for me snice I live in maryland know lets go mets.
I was at the game and has access to one of the Empire Suites and the Acela club, plus I walked all over the Stadium, and I have to say, the Mets did a really nice jobe here. That obstructed view seat does look like a problem however.

Having sat in that obstructed seat Ross sat in today (not at the same time...), I can confirm that if you bought a ticket for that seat, you would be nothing short of furious if you were looking at random fans walking up the stairs and/or a metal bar for the entire game. What they can do about that, I don't know, but at an absolute minimum they should be selling that seat as obstructed view. It's a minor upgrade from standing room only, because if you have that seat, you'll most likely end up getting up and going somewhere else, where you can actually see the game.
i just dont understand how people are complaining that an upper deck seat has a PARTIALLY obstructed view. have you ever tried watching a game at fenway? half the stadium has an obstructed view! if someone walking in front of you once in a while is going to ruin your experience dont get an upper deck seat.
