Perhaps PECOTA was on to something with Chien Ming Wang?
The YES radar gun had him sitting at 89 with his fastball. We'd like to take a look at the Pitch f/x data before crying out injury, but at this point he isn't fooling anyone and his mechanics seem out of wack. Maybe he is rusty after missing the second half of last year? Maybe he has some kind of post-Spring Training dead arm that many pitchers go through?
Lets cut out the Peter Abraham act - we're sick of making excuses. Chien Ming Wang has an ERA over 9 in his last 8 starts (thanks to River Ave. Blues' Twitter for pointing that one out). It might be time to give Phil Hughes a shot.

For this over-emotional, off the cuff post, I decided to look at a small sample size of only 8 games for my evaluation. I also mentioned that Wang may have an injury, or may be rusty. I also noted that maybe he should work out his issues somewhere else, instead of being an automatic loss here at the big league level.
I am well aware of Wang's win totals over the past few years (still doesn't mean he was one of the best pitchers). I was counting on Wang being a solid 3 or 4 starter this year, as I had said in the post I linked to from back in February. Right now, he isn't even at Sidney Ponson's level. However, CC Sabathia was bad at the beginning of last year as well, so lets not write Wang off just yet.
