Official New Stadium Insider Statement On The Joba Chamberlain "Debate"

Friend of the blog, Jason from the awesome Yankee blog "Its About The Money" wrote in asking us the following question (obviously referencing this article by Wallace Matthews in Newsday a couple of days ago):
I think Wallace Matthews is nuts. Where do you stand on the "debate"?
Short, sweet, and to the point. We like that email, Jason.

Without further ado, here is the official New Stadium Insider policy on the future role of Joba Chamberlain:

Joba should be a starting pitcher until injuries prevent him from doing so. If he can stay healthy as a starting pitcher, he will contribute more in terms of runs prevented, and in turn, wins than he would as a reliever.

Everyone gets enamored by the 99 MPH fastball that Joba would provide as a closer, but at the end of the day, 6-7 innings of excellent pitching is way more valuable than 1 inning of electric, buzz-inducing relief pitching - no matter what the Wallace Matthews' of the world think.

Hopefully, we will never be dragged into that debate again!

hahahahahahahahahahaha
It's much funnier reading it here, that way, then when I wrote it this AM.

I think he should be the set-up man and eventually become the closer. Keep in mind, this is based on nothing other than the desire for the "real" version of myself to win the fifth spot in the rotation, narrowly edging out Kei Igawa.
