The House That Ruth Built, Now Open For Corporate Cookouts

In something of a nice gesture by the Yankees, the team allowed the construction company who built the new Stadium, and is tearing down the old one, to have a corporate cookout in the sacred cathedral of sports this past Thursday, Opening Day 2009.

Did we ever truly think we'd see this day? More postmortem photos complete with rows of porta potties down the right field line, after the jump...

This has to be one of the more surreal photos I've ever seen of Yankee Stadium. At least management gave the construction guys a great memory. You should see the state of decay surrounding the exterior..sad. Like watching Grandma on life support.
The people who went were charged $10K per table of 10. A friend of mine went because his sister worked for Turner Construction. I didn't ask who charged it or where the money went. He did get to take home baggies of dirt.
Tables were not sold to the event. The entire tent was the Turner employees, friends of and the design team.
