Jesus Montero had two hits and an RBI to increase his batting average to .355. He's 15 for his last 28 (.536). Tampa was also aided by another 2 hit day by Austin Romine, who's trying to keep up with Montero. Romine also gunned down both runners trying to steal on him.
Zach McAllister gave up 1 earned run in 6 2/3 innings of pitching for Trenton. Mac had 10 strikeouts and lowered his ERA to 1.84. He has not given up more than two earned runs in his 9 starts.
Charleston got shut down by a rehabbing John Smoltz. Andrew Brackman actually kept up with Smoltz, although he was still wild. Brackman went 4 2/3 innings, without giving up a run, but had 4 walks, two wild pitches and a hit batsman.
Austin Jackson had two RBI's in a loss by Scranton.
