Some Orioles Fans Are Strange Birds (Video From Yankees vs. Orioles Game)

Apparently this crazy woman replicates the stretching routine of her hero, Jeremy Guthrie before the game.

Congratulations, Jeremy, you have yourself a stalker!

Any Orioles fans care to explain this? Read the full post, after the jump

False Alarm Gives Tigers Fans Reason To Head For The Exits Early

The video below captures a scary moment during the 8th inning of the Tigers vs. Yankees game tonight.

We've always wondered what would happen if...

...there was an emergency at a baseball game. Not falling prey to the stereotype, the fans of Detroit were surprisingly orderly and headed directly toward the nearest exits (and didn't take the elevators) as the announcement asked. With the score 8-1 in favor of the Yankees, it looks like the fans in Detroit weren't in a fighting mood.

In other news, Joe Girardi won his 100th game as Yankee manager tonight, and the YES network actually had a special graphic created for it. Apparently, becoming the 18th man (out of 34) to ever accomplish the feat is worth the graphic, a post-game interview, and a question during the managerial press conference. He isn't even in the 50th percentile of Yankee managers according to wins and they made that big of a deal out of it? Did they even do that when Joe Torre got his 1,000th win? Weird.

Note to the blogosphere, if you decide to use this embeddable video, please provide a link back to this post.

YES Network Jinxes AJ Burnett's no hitter!

I may not believe in ghosts, or even mystique and aura, but one thing is clear. The YES Network blatantly jinxed AJ Burnett just moments ago with incessant no-hit highlights. It was painful. Maybe I'm just being a bit superstitious. Now let's hope the Yanks can hang on and win, with a no-no out of the picture. Read the full post, after the jump

YES Network "Yankee Classics" against the Royals and "Yankeeography: Yankee Stadium" - This must be a joke

Last week, the YES Network had the genius idea to air a "Yankee Classic" from June 7, 2008
when Johnny Damon went 6-6 with a walk-off hit. As a reminder, this was a game between a mediocre team and a last place team in the middle of June. Now, it has been inducted into a series with classics like the opening day "snow game" in 1996, David Wells' perfect game in 1998, and the World Series in 2001.

Now, they are set to air another "Yankee Classic", this time from July 25 when Joba shut down the Red Sox. Good game? Absolutely. Classic? Definitely not.

I would almost prefer SNY's 3 game rotation of Met classics. Isn't it taking something away from the actual classics? I know, I know, the YES Ultimate Road trip was finally canceled this year and they need to fill the air.

To top it all off, the YES network actually created a "Yankeeography: 1998 Yankees" and is premiering "Yankeeography: Yankee Stadium" this week. You can't make this stuff up.

Can a "Yankeeography: Yankeeography" be too far off? How about "Yankeeography: True Yankees" featuring Michael Kay favorites such as Homer Bush, Clay Bellinger and Andy Fox. The true headliner would be none other than Clutchy McClutch - Scotty Brosius.

Good news Yankee Fans - Ian Kennedy got jerked off in the bullpen

Get your mind out of the gutter, people. I haven't turned this blog NC-17 on you. The line in the title of the post is taken verbatim (well, almost verbatim) from David Cone who made his proud return to the broadcast booth on YES with the following amazing moment in an otherwise DEPRESSING game:

Yes folks, he said that Ian Kennedy got jerked off. I can't believe it, but he said it. Kudos to Ken "look out" Singleton for taking it all in stride and just calling the action as he saw it. Perhaps Coney was remembering some of the good times he used to have in the bullpen when he was on the Mets early in his career. He got jerked around Coney, jerked around would have been more acceptable there. Sadly, YES may not be as forgiving of that misstep as we are here at NYYSI.

Just say YES to Bob Lorenz

If you have been watching the tediously boring Yankee Spring Training games of late, you will have noticed that YES post game anchor Bob Lorenz has been in the booth. He was in the booth with Michael Kay doing color for the VT game and lately has been in the booth with Kenny "LOOK OUT" Singleton as Spring Training has been winding down.

I'm not sure if this is some sort of experiment, or if they just couldn't get anyone else, but Lorenz has a great voice for a color guy and really offers a contrast from the similarly generic sounding O'Neill/Cone/Flaherty/Leiter. His experience doing the post game shows on YES allows him to know ALL he needs to know about the current (and past) state of the Yankees.

Therefore, this Yankee blogger is taking a stand and calling out for YES to ditch some of the nostalgia and bring in a color guy that brings something different to the table - give Bob Lorenz a chance during the regular season and let Nancy Newman handle the studio.
