UPDATE: Awww crap. Just realized that Andrew over at No, You're A Towel had this up on Wednesday night. Sorry for not giving you the proper credit, Andrew.
We owe everything we have here at NSI to David Cone. On a rainy night last April, he said that Ian Kennedy "got jerked off" in the bullpen, we ripped the footage and posted it on the website, Rob Neyer ran with the story, and the rest is history. The video is gone from the original post, but here it is from last April:
We figured at the time that Cone would get a stern talking to by YES executives/producers, who would explain the difference between "jerking off" and "jerking around," and everyone would go along their merry way. That is why were were completely shocked when we heard that Cone had made the same mistake again last night. This time, it was another young Yankee starter, Joba Chamberlain and he was apparently jerkin' off:
Really David Cone? Again? Really? You're awesome.

Good news Yankee Fans - Ian Kennedy got jerked off in the bullpen
Get your mind out of the gutter, people. I haven't turned this blog NC-17 on you. The line in the title of the post is taken verbatim (well, almost verbatim) from David Cone who made his proud return to the broadcast booth on YES with the following amazing moment in an otherwise DEPRESSING game:
Yes folks, he said that Ian Kennedy got jerked off. I can't believe it, but he said it. Kudos to Ken "look out" Singleton for taking it all in stride and just calling the action as he saw it. Perhaps Coney was remembering some of the good times he used to have in the bullpen when he was on the Mets early in his career. He got jerked around Coney, jerked around would have been more acceptable there. Sadly, YES may not be as forgiving of that misstep as we are here at NYYSI.
Talk about it in the NYYSI Forums!

Just say YES to Bob Lorenz

If you have been watching the tediously boring Yankee Spring Training games of late, you will have noticed that YES post game anchor Bob Lorenz has been in the booth. He was in the booth with Michael Kay doing color for the VT game and lately has been in the booth with Kenny "LOOK OUT" Singleton as Spring Training has been winding down.
I'm not sure if this is some sort of experiment, or if they just couldn't get anyone else, but Lorenz has a great voice for a color guy and really offers a contrast from the similarly generic sounding O'Neill/Cone/Flaherty/Leiter. His experience doing the post game shows on YES allows him to know ALL he needs to know about the current (and past) state of the Yankees.
Therefore, this Yankee blogger is taking a stand and calling out for YES to ditch some of the nostalgia and bring in a color guy that brings something different to the table - give Bob Lorenz a chance during the regular season and let Nancy Newman handle the studio.
