Standing Room Only - At The OLD Yankee Stadium?

We have written extensively about the lack of standing room only ticket sales at the new ballparks in New York. Today, we received photos from WCBS880.com proving there is standing room only in one stadium - the OLD Yankee Stadium.

All of the seats have been removed, and the place is decaying by the day. We have said it before, but isn't there any way to expedite this process? Walking by that construction site on the way into the new stadium gets more depressing by the day!

The Yankees Are Trying To Move Seats - Old And New (Demolition & Ticket Pricing Updates)

A couple of quick notes on a busy Monday afternoon - before we head out to the stadium.

The pace of demolition is accelerating at the old Yankee stadium, as seats are being being pulled throughout. Sales are brisk for the insanely overpriced seats, so the Yankees likely want to get those orders fulfilled before the inevitable buyer's remorse sets in and people try to get a refunds.

The Yankees are trying to sell seats at the new Yankee Stadium as well. In this case, they are trying to get fans to come to the seats, instead of the seats coming to them. According to a marketing email sent by the Yankees this morning, fans can "Save $40 on Batter's Eye seats May 18-21." The Yankees conveniently withhold the price of these seats throughout Yankees.com, so fans can't see the completely overpriced $125 face value. Even at $85 ($40 off) "catch[ing] the game perched atop the Batter's Eye and enjoy[ing] one of the most unique views in the Stadium" is not worth it. Buyer beware, and wait until they drop the prices to a more reasonable level of $45 - $50.

Some Of The Last Photos Ever Taken Inside Of The Old Yankee Stadium

If you are a nostalgist who is squeamish about the dismantling of the old Yankee Stadium, you might want to skip over this post.

Courtesy of our buddy "StationA" on Twitter, we present some of the last photos taken from inside of the stadium before the dismantling goes into overdrive. "Station A" is a systems engineer for the Yankees, so he was one of the brave last men out since he had to take the old digs offline.

Without further ado, here is his farewell to the old Yankee Stadium:



The once picture-perfect field is now stripped bare. Previously only seen from overhead helicopter shots.



The new Yankee Stadium laughs at the crappy suites of old Yankee Stadium's past.



There is no reason to transport the fishnets to the new stadium . The screen no longer covers the field level seats at the new Yankee Stadium. Just think of how many little kids were booed while failing to capture a ball in that net. What memories.
